Cattle effluents, either composted or bio-digested by Black Soldier Fly larvae, in the fertilization of ryegrass in sandy soils

The relative agronomic performance of two organic fertilizers - effluents from intensive cattle farming, after composting either by traditional aerobic methods (compost) or bio-digestion larvae the black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens, BSF) (frass) in growth annual ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.) on a sandy soil was evaluated. For this purpose, pot trial conducted semi-controlled greenhouse. Eight treatments were defined, with four using compost and frass (with 10% nitroamoniacal nitrogen supplementation all treatments), addition to negative control without fertilization, positive exclusively chemical fertilization. Regarding biomass production, BSF displayed higher potential than compost, significantly production an N endowment equivalent 280 kg ha-1 (252 + 28 mineral N). While yields obtained stable when 350 (315 35 N) provided, revealed tendency continue progress doses. This could be justified fact that P2O5 K2O content is these nutrients continued mineralized over time. Furthermore, results confirm potentiating effect maximization associated adequate proportions. In addition, it verified enhanced water use plants, which regardless endowment. It concluded mixing positively impacts fertility sustainability as whole, increasing productivities sustainable way.
